Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at my first visit — and will I get treated that day?
Your first visit is a one-on-one consultation and exam with the doctor you booked, chiropractic or acupuncture. We go through your history, what is bothering you, and a hands-on evaluation so we are not guessing. The written plan is reviewed at the next appointment. Treatment starts on that second visit. Book an initial consultation at https://mcwc.janeapp.com (pick your doctor first) or call (303) 221-1714.
Does acupuncture hurt? What do the needles feel like?
Acupuncture needles are solid and hair-thin, not the hollow needles used for shots or blood draws. Most people feel little at insertion. Some feel a brief pinch, dull ache, warmth, or heaviness. If a point feels sharp, tell Dr. Latham and she will adjust or remove it. We use sterile, single-use needles.
Do chiropractic adjustments hurt? What is that popping sound?
An adjustment is a specific, controlled move to a joint that is not moving well. Many people feel pressure then relief. Some feel mild soreness afterward, like a new workout, for a day or so. The pop is gas in the joint shifting, not bones cracking. If you prefer a gentler or instrument-assisted style, say so. You stay in control.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on how long the problem has been there, what the exam finds, and how you respond. We will not quote a stock package or promise a cure. After visit one, your doctor outlines a plan at visit two. Some issues settle in a short course. Longer-standing pain usually takes more visits, then we space care out. You decide whether to continue.
Do you take my insurance, or can I pay cash?
Insurance is per doctor, not clinic-wide. The logos on this page are the plans Dr. DiBella and Dr. Latham work with. Dr. Schoefernacker is in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Medicare only, not United, UMR, or Blue Cross. If you have United, UMR, or you’re unsure, call (303) 221-1714. Self-pay is fine. Bring your insurance card if we are billing a plan. Check your copay, deductible, and visit limits before the first visit.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. For chiropractic we need to see and move the spine and joints. For acupuncture with Dr. Latham, loose sleeves and pants help reach arms, legs, and back. We’ll use a gown or drape if needed.
Who do I book for chiropractic vs acupuncture?
Dr. Latham does acupuncture, functional blood chemistry, Webster prenatal, and chiropractic. Dr. DiBella does chiropractic and the other conservative therapies, not acupuncture or blood chemistry. Dr. Schoefernacker performs chiropractic care with a focus on sports rehab, not acupuncture, with insurance as in question 5. On Jane, choose the provider first: https://mcwc.janeapp.com.
